Soma Guidance

Sustainability by Mo.

We are faced with unsustainability, not only in the world we live in, but also in our internal universe.

Climate change, loss of biodiversity and social inequities closely rival rising levels of loneliness, depression and anxiety.

Soma Guidance seeks to combine the ancient wisdom that is Yoga, with scientific findings to offer solutions to businesses and individuals along their journey to net zero – greenhouse gases AND emotional malaise.

About Mo

Mo Dohadwala profile picture
Mohammed 'Mo' Dohadwala

Mo is a committed Yogi, balancing the challenges of a demanding career as a senior banker with his passion to teach, learn and practice yoga. He has held responsible positions at large banks and served as COO and CEO at financial services firms. He has expertise in risk management and is now focused on helping corporates on their sustainability and mitigating climate journeys.

Mohammed’s initial education includes an engineering degree from IIT Bombay and an MBA from IIM Calcutta. He also has a few investment credentials like the CFA, CAIA and CIPM charters to his credit. He is now looking at ways to apply machine learning and AI to business use cases, as well as for sustainability solutions.

Mohammed started practicing Yoga rather late in life, when he was 39 years old. Like most Yogis, he started with an active physical practice and found that it quickly moved into being a mindful and spiritual practice. This motivated him to earn his Teacher Training from YogaWorks, a reputed Yoga school in the US in 2011 and he has been teaching yoga to willing and enthusiastic participants ever since. He also received his Yin Teacher Training Certification from Sebastian and Murielle in 2017.

Mohammed likes to read about psychology, mindfulness and meditation and correlate how new findings corroborate what Yoga has been saying all along.

The need to get ahead with one's career oftentimes leads to dissatisfaction, anxiety and stress. Competing demands from family, friends and bosses leave professionals feeling out of control and worried. This inevitably leads to declining health, frayed relationships and a desire to find balance. This has also been the reason we are experiencing climate change – an unsustainable way of life that is now coming back to haunt us. Yoga and science might have the answers. What is needed is the dedication and perseverance to apply these to our way of life. This is where Soma Guidance would like to help corporates and individuals find the solutions to their sustainability problems.

Testimonials

Progressive Yoga Journey

Rajni Bansal, Yogi

Mo’s directions are clear and precise so you’re not looking up to check you’re doing the right thing, and he’s very observant, constantly checking your positioning. His classes are truly for all levels, and although you’ve worked hard you’ll somehow come out relaxed. The classes are stand alone, but if you attend regularly it is more of a course moving though different focuses which I love, adding new techniques every week to get more from each pose as you progress, as well as exploring new ones.

Strategic ESG Consultant

Rachel S, Chief of Staff Westpac

Mohammed was able to rapidly bring his extensive international experience to play in the Australian market, taking on a complex role with multiple stakeholders. He quickly formed respected relationships and moved work forward, with respect for conflicting views. Mo is willing to take on new challenges, with learning agility - technically and culturally - a critical strength.

Seasoned Banking Professional

Rashad Al Musafir, Financial Consultant

I have known Mo for almost 20 years. He has been always dedicated and committed to his work, and always honest in his dealings. He has led many transactions with me, including merger / acquisition negotiations, debt and capital raising, and syndication, project finance and large ticket multi bank deals. More recently, he has been engaged in a complex, multi bank rescue operation for large too big to fail companies facing difficulties on account of economic down-turn and COVID 19 lockdowns. He is definitely a resource to rely on all the time.
